The Raspberry Pi 3 Wireless Adapter is internal. It supports AP mode, and can be used as access point. It cannot simultaneously support Managed mode, unless the same channel is used. Consequently it cannot by itslef provide Wifi relay capability. It requires a Wifi dongle for Wifi relay capability. It can by itself provide Wifi router capability.
